Qualcomm Snapdragon is the most popular and preferred chip maker in the market. Qualcomm chips are features in almost all high end smartphones from major manufacturers. Recently Qualcomm announced its 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chip which has a maximum clock speed of 2.5GHz and can handle 4GB RAM. But did you ever think that your smartphone could tick a clock speed light super computers? Well if not then its time you starting thinking about it, NVIDI’s K1 chip is caught on benchmark with a clock speed of 3GHz.
Yeah that’s true, 3GHz per core, well that’s not it. The chip produced by NVIDIA is a 64-bit chip and comes in Dual-Core and Quad-Core versions. The benchmark scores of the Dual-Core NVIDI Tegra K1 is 43,617 and score of the Quad-Core Tegra K1 is 43,851. Right now NVIDIA tegra processors are not used in a lot of tablets or phones, but QUALCOMM processors are in HTC, Samsung, Nokia and LG’s smartphones.
These massive scores beat the previous highest score of 37,780 set by Snapdragon 805 chipset. With processor this fast the era of super fast smartphones is not too far. Recently Apple launched its powerful Mac Pro with Quad-Core and Hexa-Core processors, both these CPUs come with a clock speed of 3.7GHz and 3.5GHz respectively. I don’t intend to compare super computer with smartphones but try and bring about the fact that we may soon see super smartphones. Stay tuned and we will keep you posted with further development and implementation of the Tegra K1 processor.
